3″ New Snow and Still Snowing This Morning!

NOTICE TO OUR GUESTS…do not use your GPS or IPhone Map app to bring you to the ski area or Tube World and DO NOT use any mapping that includes the words SCENIC VIEW DR. or ROAD NAMES HEMPHILL ROAD OR YELLOW PATCH ROAD. Use the directions below for the quickest routes. These roads are incorrect and a mapping error that takes you up a dead end private road and single lane fire roads.

Tube World is not located at the ski area. Tube World is located on U.S. 19 (4721 Soco Road) directly across from the ski area entrance sign at Fie Top Road in Maggie Valley.

We are open on 18 slopes and trails from the top of the mountain down and have three aerial lifts and two conveyor lifts operating with skiing from the top of the mountain down. Base is 38-68″ with machine worked surface. We offer three sessions of skiing, day skiing from 9am-4:30pm, twilight skiing from 1pm until 10pm and night skiing from 6pm until 10pm with a morning or afternoon half day rate also available.

Today is Family Day and a child 17 and under receives a free lift ticket when accompanied by a parent purchasing a full price adult day, twilight or night lift ticket. Adult purchasing ticket must be 21 years or older and can not be used with any additional discount and regular rental and lesson rates apply.

WOW, our Women on Wednesdays program taught by women, for women continues today. If you haven’t signed up and still wish to, you can still join this week. Pay for your session at the ski area when you arrive. Clinic starts at 10am and you can ski until 4:30pm on your ticket. All afterschool and racing programs will be held this afternoon as scheduled.

We have two parks available today our advanced park on Richard’s Run with a 12′ round rail, 15′ flat rail, 24′ mailbox rail, 20′ big FAT corrugated rail, 24′ flat down round street rail and a 24′ flat rail. For you beginners in the park, we have a 10′ flat double rail, 20′ medium corrugated rail and a 10′ flat single rail.

Tube World, located in Maggie Valley, four miles from the ski area across from Ghost Town in the Sky is on its regular schedule and will reopen on Thursday, January 18 at 4pm. To reserve your session in advance any day after today, please click here. If you wish to tube and have been unable to purchase a ticket online, you can purchase a ticket for any session in the day if available the morning of the day you plan to tube. Cost for tubing is $25 and you must be 42″ tall to ride alone. There is no two person tubing at Tube World. If you wish to tube and have been unable to purchase a ticket online, you can purchase a ticket for any session in the day if available the morning of the day you plan to tube. Wee Bowl, our children’s snowplay area for kids under the 42″ height requirement runs on the same schedule as Tube World and cost for Wee Bowl is $5 per person. Tube World address is 4721 Soco Road.

Our rental shop in Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski & Sports, is open as well. Be sure to stop there for discounted rentals and any accessories you might need prior to your day on the slopes. They are located at 3434 Soco Road.

Directions to Cataloochee
To get to the ski area, come through the town of Maggie Valley turn onto Fie Top Road (at Ghost Town in the Sky and across from Tube World) and continue up that road for 3 miles and then 1 mile across on Ski Lodge Road to the ski area. Do not turn off of Fie Top Road onto any other road other than Ski Lodge Road. Also, Tube World is located at the base of the mountain in the town of Maggie Valley and not at the ski area. They are situated on Soco Road across from Ghost Town.

From the East (Asheville/Charlotte) Take I-40 West to exit 27 (Maggie Valley). Exit on to U.S. 19/23/74 South (exit right at Exit 103). Continue into and through the town of Maggie Valley. At the far end of Maggie Valley, turn right into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road. Continue 3 miles to the top of the mountain on Fie Top Road. Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to ski area.

From the West (Knoxville) Take I-40 East to exit 20 (Maggie Valley). Exit on to U.S. 276 South (exit right). Continue 6 miles to red light at the intersection of U.S. 19 South (Maggie Valley Inn & Conference Center will be on your right) and U.S. 276 South. Turn right at red light onto U.S. 19 South and continue into and through the town of Maggie Valley. At the far end of Maggie Valley turn right into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road. Continue 3 miles to the top of the mountain on Fie Top Road. Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to ski area.

From the North (Cherokee) Take U.S. 441 South to U.S. 19 North (Maggie Valley). Continue over Soco Gap into the town of Maggie Valley. Turn left into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road. Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to ski area.

From the Atlanta area and points south Take U.S. 441 to U.S. 23 exiting in the city of Waynesville (exit 102 B). Take 276 North to U.S. 19 South (turn left at red light at Lake Junaluska). Continue on U.S. 19 South into and through the town of Maggie Valley. At the far end of Maggie Valley, turn right into the Ghost Town in the Sky parking lot onto Fie Top Road and continue 3 miles to the top of the mountain. Turn left at the top of Fie Top Road onto Ski Lodge Road and continue 1 mile to the ski area.

After many years of directing Cataloochee skiers and snowboarders over sometimes impassable roads, Google Maps provides the only accurate driving directions to the ski area from your point of origin. Google Maps is the ONLY mapping service to provide accurate directions at the current time. Please remember to use this service when planning your trip to the area. GPS devices and other mapping services provide directions over a limited access, unmaintained dirt road.
